Our story
STUK01 (Pty) Ltd was established in Pretoria in 2017 by founder and director Kobus Vos, whose career began in architecture before his passion for carpentry and furniture manufacturing led him in a different direction.
After studying architecture at Tshwane University of Technology and entering professional practice in 2011, Kobus began working in carpentry part-time in 2015. Two years later, he established STUK01 and made the decision to pursue manufacturing full-time.
What began with a focus on custom furniture has since developed into a specialist carpentry and joinery company working across residential and commercial projects. Today, STUK01 manufactures everything from individual furniture pieces and fitted cabinetry to detailed architectural joinery and commercial shopfitting.
Throughout this growth, Kobus has remained closely involved in the business, combining his understanding of design with practical manufacturing experience.
Hands-on from start to finish
STUK01 is supported by a small, experienced team of craftsmen who have worked alongside Kobus for several years.
Kobus continues to take an active role in manufacturing, particularly where projects involve specialised detailing or more complex work. He also remains involved during installations, ensuring that the finished result reflects the quality expected from STUK01.
This approach allows the team to maintain close communication with clients and take personal responsibility for the work they produce.
Our workshop
Equipped for custom manufacturing
STUK01 operates from a 300m² workshop in Pretoria, equipped with the machinery and facilities needed for specialist carpentry and joinery.
The team works with solid timber, melamine, plywood and steel, supported by woodworking machinery, welding equipment and spray facilities. This allows a wide range of custom projects to be manufactured in-house, from individual furniture pieces to larger fitted installations.
Residential craftsmanship
Commercial capability
STUK01 works with private homeowners, interior designers, architects and contractors on projects of different sizes and requirements.
Alongside residential work, the company has developed long-standing relationships in the commercial sector, including shopfitting projects associated with MTN and SAB. Although based in Pretoria and primarily serving Gauteng, STUK01 has completed work throughout South Africa and undertakes projects further afield when required.
